Introducing Alanya

History :

Alanya was formerly part of the territory of Clicia as well as part of the land of Pamphylia and was part of the Iranian empire. It was then taken over by the Greeks and Romans. In the period of the Eastern Roman Empire, it was also called Clenorus, meaning “beautiful mountain”. Aladdin Qigbad, the Seljuk king in the 5th century AD changed the name of the city to “Alaiyeh”. Finally, Alanya was annexed to the Ottoman Empire in the year 8 AD.

Alanya has always been a stronghold for many Mediterranean empires such as Ptolemy, Seleucid, Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman Empire, due to its strategic location on a small peninsula in the Mediterranean Sea below the Taurus Mountains.

Alanya gained its greatest political importance in the Middle Ages under the rule of Sultan Aladdin Qigabad, named after the city. Many of Alanya’s landmarks are remnants of King Qigbad, such as the Red Tower and Alanya Shipyard.

Damatlat cave :

One of Alanya’s most popular caves is its Damatlat cave. This cave lies to the west of the peninsula. His cave in Damatelat was discovered accidentally by a dynamite explosion in year 6 to represent a rock mass at the time of construction of the port of Alanya. People came in through the created crater and were amazed at what they saw. They immediately closed the crater and went to another place for the explosion. When this happened, Glip Valley, an Alania, told the workers to continue their work.

One day he read an interesting piece in the newspaper that one of the terrible days of World War II German soldiers were hiding in a cave to protect themselves from the bombs. One of the soldiers, who had asthma, was treated inside the cave. When he read the news, he remembered a cave that was discovered. He took the newspaper to the deputy head of Alanya City Ahmed Tocus and said after the newspaper show that if it happened in Germany it could have happened in Alanya too. After experts and officials arrived in Alanya, the first research was carried out by the geologist, Dr. Timuchin Aigin and Dr. Suleiman Tarknal. The second group, which included chemists, also came to the cave.

Glip Valley suggested to the Mayor of Alanya to close the cave and its area with iron gates for some time to prevent people from entering the cave. Then, taking photos of the cave and sending it to the newspapers, the news was published in the newspapers as “The cave discovered in Alanya cures people with asthma”. After this news, a flood of tourists came to Alanya as the hotels were unable to accommodate them, so the Alanya people began to host tourists in their homes. Some citizens have benefited greatly from this position. Some with two-storey houses turned one of the floors into a small hotel, and those with two houses turned one into a hotel, so they laid the foundation for tourism in Alanya.

As a result of research, it has been discovered that there are four functions for treating asthma. Relaxation and radioactivity are functions that help the healing process. The amount of carbon dioxide and moisture in its cave is higher than in Germany, which causes them to not feel cold in the cave. According to experts, inside the cave air contains% 2 carbon dioxide,% 2 nitrogen,% 2% oxygen and some ions and radioactive gases.

Patients who come to this place for treatment go upstairs and adjust themselves to the cave atmosphere. Then they go downstairs and sit on the benches for which they are made. Patients with asthma who are more than 5 years old may temporarily feel better. Especially patients between the ages of 1 and 2 years. Those with less than 5 years of asthma can be fully treated. Patients with chronic asthma feel better after 3 days of treatment.
